Ukrzaliznytsia will build a new train station in Fastiv instead of restoring the one destroyed by a Russian attack on 6 December, Mayor Mykhailo Netiazhuk reported.

"Following a meeting of the headquarters for eliminating the consequences of the enemy strike, chaired by Ukrzaliznytsia head Alexander Pertsovskyi, a decision was made to fully dismantle the damaged structure and build a new station in Fastiv. The project will undergo a public consultation process. A temporary modular facility will be installed on the platform during construction," Netiazhuk wrote on Facebook.

This will be the fourth station building at the Fastiv railway hub.

The original Fastiv I station, along with the first station building, was constructed in 1870.

During World War II, the building was heavily damaged, prompting the Soviets to build a new station in 1952.

That structure remained in operation for almost 60 years until it was replaced in August 2011 — on the eve of Independence Day — with a modern building made of glass, lightweight metal, and concrete. The former station was replaced with a public garden.
