In September 2025, a private company transferred UAH 70 million to Ukrzaliznytsia as a partial compensation for the losses caused to the company due to fraud in the procurement of cable and wire products in 2022-2023. About said uZ press service.

It is noted that the schemes of abuse in public procurement were exposed thanks to the joint work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the team of the UZ Corporate Security Department.

"Ukrzaliznytsia continues to improve approaches to procurement activities. In particular, by simplifying the tender conditions and actively engaging in dialogue with market participants, the company managed to overcome the quasi-monopoly of one of its suppliers in the cable and wire products sector, where abuse was previously detected. This resulted in a significant price reduction and improved procurement quality," the company said.

For example, during the last procurement of cable and wire products in August-September 2025, the savings in bidding results, compared to the prices of 2023, amounted to up to 32%.

In total, since 2023, the NABU and the SAPO have managed to compensate more than UAH 185.6 million in damages caused to Ukrzaliznytsia as a result of corruption violations.

In particular, UAH 70 million was reimbursed as part of the investigation into abuses during natural gas purchasesmore than UAH 41 million – as part of the investigation into the misappropriation of UZ funds during the purchase of rail fasteners, UAH 3 million – as a result of the investigation fraud in fuel procurement.
