"My reputation is based on trust". Intel CEO responds to Trump's call to quit
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said he has the full support of the company's board of directors, responding to the US president's call Donald Trump resign because of alleged ties to China. He said this wrote in a letter to employees.
Tan said that he had contacted the White House to clarify "misinformation" about his activities.
"We are working with the administration to address the issues raised and make sure they have the facts. I fully share the president's commitment to advancing U.S. national and economic security and appreciate his leadership in advancing these priorities."he noted.
Earlier, Trump called for Thune's resignation on Truth Social, accusing him of having ties that could indicate a conflict of interest.
Prior to that, Republican Senator Tom Cotton sent a request to Intel's board of directors asking about Tan's ties to China, including investments in local chip companies and military-related businesses.
Tan responded that there is a lot of misinformation surrounding his work at Walden International and Cadence Design Systems. In his more than 40 years in the industry, he said, he has always acted in accordance with the highest legal and ethical standards.
"My reputation is based on trust – on doing what I say I'm going to do and doing it right. That's how I run Intel." Tan added.
