"There is no other solution". Trump calls for Intel CEO's resignation

US President Donald Trump said that Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan should resign immediately over alleged ties to China. He wrote about this in his social network Truth Social.

Lip-Bu Tan became Intel's CEO in March 2015 after the dismissal of his predecessor Pat Helsinger .
And in April, it became known that Lip Bu Tan has been investing in companies linked to the Chinese army for many years . According to Reuters, it was at least $200 million between March 2012 and December 2024.
Ahead of Trump's announcement, U.S. Senator Tom Cotton wrote a letter to Intel. In it, he stated that Lip-Bu Tan's investments in Chinese companies, as well as the criminal case related to his former company Cadence Design, create a conflict of interest and a threat to US national security, given Intel's key role in the government's semiconductor industry support program.
Trump agrees with Senator's opinion.
Intel's CEO has a serious conflict of interest and should resign immediately. There is no other solution to this problem," he said .
- on July 25, Intel announced the cancellation of large-scale plans to build new facilities in Europe. The company's new strategy, initiated by Lip-Bu Tan, also includes austerity, cost cutting, and avoiding "upstream" investments, i.e., before real demand for products appears.
