Exports of cucumbers from Ukraine increased by 20% in 2025: Poland bought the most
In 2025, Ukraine significantly increased its exports of cucumbers but sold much smaller volumes of tomatoes to foreign markets. At the same time, imports of tomatoes and cucumbers to Ukraine in both physical and monetary terms increased significantly, according to the State Customs Service, writes Interfax-Ukraine.
The supply of Ukrainian cucumbers to foreign markets in 2025 increased by 19.7% to 3,760 tons. The most active buyers were Poland (54.5%), Estonia (36.4%), and Moldova (7.5%).
A year ago, the top three were the same, but with a different distribution of shares: Estonia accounted for 50.6% of the volume supplied, Poland for 32.6%, and Moldova for 9.3%.
As for tomatoes, their sales abroad fell to 553 tons last year, which is 31.2% less than in 2024. Moldova (61.5%), Poland (34.1%), and Romania (1.1%) were the main buyers of Ukrainian tomatoes. The year before last, Moldova was also the main buyer (86%).
Instead, in 2025, Ukraine imported 104,820 tons of tomatoes (32.5% more than in 2024) and 70,820 tons of cucumbers (46.3% more than in 2024). In monetary terms, imports of tomatoes increased by 31.6% to $140.84 million last year, and cucumbers by 38.8% to $89.14 million.
Turkey remained the main supplier of tomatoes to Ukraine, accounting for 82.3% of all supplies in monetary terms. Imports from Poland accounted for 7.3% of the volume, and from the Netherlands — 1.9%. The three largest suppliers of cucumbers to Ukraine were Turkey (83.5%), Romania (7.6%), and Poland (4.6%).
A year ago, the main suppliers of tomatoes to Ukraine were Turkey (77.3%), Poland (10.9%), and the Netherlands (4.3%), and cucumbers — Turkey (73.6%), Poland (11.8%), and Romania (4.9%). Thus, in 2025, Turkey significantly strengthened its leadership position in both segments.
In July 2025, Ukraine introduced anti-dumping duties on imports of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes from Turkey: 20.1% and 26.9%, respectively, for a period of five years. These measures were taken to protect Ukrainian producers.
- Ukraine exported 2.05 billion eggs in 2025, which is 65.6% more than a year earlier. Spain was the largest importer.
