Indian oil refiners do not plan to abandon Russian oil, even despite the resumption of trade negotiations with the United States. About writes Bloomberg, citing informed sources.

Procurement is expected to remain active in November and December, although it will not reach the record levels of recent years. Reliance Industries, which has a long-term contract with Rosneft, plays a particularly important role in this.

The agency notes that if India's largest conglomerate refuses to buy Russian oil, the total figures could be much lower, even if other companies continue to accept cargo from Russia.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump introduced a 50% duty on Indian goods accusing New Delhi of financing the war and cooperating with Moscow.

In August, this led to a sharp drop in Russian oil imports to India – to about 1 million barrels per day, the lowest in almost two years.

However, in recent days, the situation has changed: after a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Trump thanked him for his "support in ending Russia's war against Ukraine. This reduced US pressure, so Indian refineries are planning to increase purchases again.

India and China remain the main buyers of oil, which Russia sells at a discount. European restrictions, including the reduction of the price ceiling for Russian oil to $47.6 per barrel delhi has virtually ignored them, calling them unrealistic.
