Reuters: China has received its third cargo from Arctic LNG 2. Two more to come in the near future
Over the past few weeks, the third tanker from Russia's Arctic LNG 2 plant, which is under Western sanctions, has unloaded in China. This is evidenced by the monitoring data of LSEG and Kpler vessels, writes Reuters.
The US-sanctioned tanker Zarya has unloaded more than 160,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the Beihai terminal in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi.
In total, China has already received three shipments of LNG from Arctic LNG 2, which amounts to more than 386,000 cubic meters of gas.
Two more shipments – on board the Buran and Iris vessels (174,000 cubic meters each) – are expected to arrive in the coming days.
According to ICIS, Buran is due to arrive at the terminal on September 13.
The Arctic LNG 2 plant was to become one of the largest in Russia, with an annual production volume of almost 20 million tons.
However due to Western sanctionsdue to the full-scale war against Ukraine, the project is facing difficulties, despite the start of deliveries in August 2024.
- On August 28, the first gas carrier from the Russian Arctic LNG-2 arrived in China.
- On September 2, it became known that the sixth tanker in a year loaded Russian LNG with Arctic LNG 2.
