Ukraine has started exporting electricity to Poland since Wednesday, state energy company Ukrenerho announced.

In a statement, Ukrenerho said that electricity production fully meets the needs of consumers, with the power system having a sufficient power reserve.

"This makes it possible to export electricity to Moldova (30 to 95 MW at different hours), and as of today, to Poland (up to 75 MW at different hours)," it added.

Negotiations are also underway to launch electricity exports to Slovakia, Ukrenerho announced.

Last week, Ukraine’s ministry of energy decided to resume electricity exports to Europe under the conditions of providing Ukrainian consumers with electricity and excess electricity production.

Ukraine began exporting electricity to the European Union in the summer of 2022, and it quickly became one of the main export articles. Since October 11, 2022, due to Russian strikes on the energy system, exports have stopped.

Since mid-February, there has been no power deficit in Ukraine.
