Ukraine is 30% ready for the heating season. Kryvyi Rih is slightly behind schedule
The average readiness rate of boiler houses in Ukraine is currently 30%, and of heating networks – 33%. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Kostyantyn Kovalchuk, writes the Ministry of Development.
Kovalchuk noted that the recommended rate of preparation of housing and communal services facilities for the next heating season should be 30% and coincides with the current one.
At the same time, the situation differs depending on the region. In particular, the Ministry of Development has taken the preparation for the heating season in Kryvyi Rih under weekly control.
Last week, the department recorded the city's lag behind the planned work schedule. Currently, the overall readiness of the Kryvyi Rih heating plant for operation in the autumn-winter period is 27%.
At the same time, winter preparations in Zelenodolsk, Ukrainka, Ladyzhyn, Burshtyn, Dobrotvor, and Kremenchuk – cities that suffered significant damage to their heating infrastructure due to Russian shelling in previous years – are on schedule.
This year's season will be the fourth in a full-scale war. The government warns that critical infrastructure could again be targeted by Russian attacks, so preparations must be as rapid as possible.
"Currently, repairs of networks and energy facilities are underway. To do this, we are accumulating assistance from partners, stockpiling repair equipment, and decentralizing the system using small-scale generation facilities," said Oleksiy Kuleba.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Naftogaz also reported on the accumulation of natural gas and coal reserves for the stable operation of housing and communal services enterprises during the heating season.
In addition, work is underway to introduce distributed generation in all regions.
This year, 57 cogeneration plants with an additional capacity of 59 MW and 61 block-modular boiler houses with a total capacity of 138.2 MW have already been installed at enterprises.
- As of early June 2025, gas reserves in Ukrainian underground storage facilities remain the lowest in 11 years, but the gap from last year is gradually closing.
- Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko assured that Ukraine will have sufficient gas reserves for a stable heating season.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that if Ukraine experiences a gas shortage in winter, Norway will help cover this volume.
