Ukraine agrees with Korea on a loan for 20 high-speed trains for Ukrzaliznytsia

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft letter to the Government of the Republic of Korea on the provision of a soft loan for the purchase of high-speed electric trains. About this reported permanent Representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.

We are talking about 20 modern Korean trains that the company plans to purchase Ukrzaliznytsia to provide interregional and international passenger transportation.

The financing will be provided by a concessional loan from the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

The signing of the document will pave the way for the implementation of this infrastructure project, which aims to modernize the Ukrainian railway fleet and improve the quality of transportation.

• On July 21, Ukrzaliznytsia completed the procedures contracting 100 new passenger railcars. They are to be manufactured by the Kryukiv Carriage Works. The signal batch is five new generation railcars.
• Taking into account this purchase, UZ will receive 266 new passenger railcars in 2021 at the expense of the state budget.
