Electricity imports drop by 9.4% in November as Ukraine shifts sourcing

Ukraine’s electricity imports decreased by 9.4% in November compared to October, totaling nearly 165,000 MWh, according to monitoring data from ExPro Electricity.
- Hungary and Moldova: Imports dropped significantly, with Hungary—previously the largest supplier—seeing a 44% reduction.
- Poland: Imports doubled to over 40,000 MWh, making the country the second-largest supplier.
- Slovakia: Retained the largest share of imports at 33%, with Poland following at 25%.
Electricity imports have been declining since July, following a peak in June when Ukraine recorded a six-month high of 858,300 MWh, a 91% increase from May.
- On October 29, 2024, the EU increased electricity export capacity to Ukraine to 2.1 GW.
- On November 28, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
