Searches of businesses are unnecessary in most cases, because the documents that law enforcement officers are looking for can be obtained through the tax service, other government agencies, or an official request. This was stated by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko during the forum "State and Business: From Dialogue to Partnership".

Kravchenko noted that searches are appropriate in cases where "there is reason to believe that evidence may be destroyed."

The original documents regarding public procurement are usually kept by the customer, and law enforcement officers have two options: either seize them through a search and seizure, or submit a request under Article 93 of the Criminal Procedure Code and appoint a forensic technical examination.

"That is, in most cases, searches of businesses are not necessary. These documents can be seized with a more civilized, calm approach," Kravchenko emphasized.

He also stated that he had instructed an analysis of the effectiveness of all searches conducted in criminal proceedings.

In particular, attention will be paid to how many of them are closed, how much evidence was seized, and whether it became evidence in court.

"Something tells me that the percentage will be very small, and I will make it public," Kravchenko added.
