EU extends sanctions against Russia for a year for destabilizing actions abroad

The Council of the European Union has extended for a year the restrictive measures against 47 individuals and 15 companies involved in Russia's destabilizing actions abroad. About said press service of the Council of the EU.
The sanctions will remain in place until at least October 9, 2026.
The EU Council explained that the decision was made because of Russia's continued hybrid activities, including manipulation of information and interference in the affairs of the EU, its member states and partners.
The assets of individuals and companies against whom the EU has extended sanctions are frozen, and European citizens and organizations are prohibited from providing them with money, financial assets and economic resources. Individuals on the list are also banned from entering EU countries.
Sanctions in response to Russia's destabilizing actions were adopted in October 2024. Initially, they were aimed at those who undermine the values, security and stability of the EU, as well as at the organizers of hybrid attacks.
In 2025, the list of restrictions was expanded to include the ability to freeze assets, cut off funding, and block the activities of Russian media that spread disinformation.
Brussels emphasized that Russia systematically carries out cyberattacks, sabotage, information campaigns and other aggressive actions, which have only intensified since the start of a full-scale war against Ukraine.
