For the first time since 2022, Mykolaiv has received a centralized supply of fresh water. This was reported by Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
The construction of the water pipeline with a total length of about 136 km is fully completed. Two lines of 67.9 km each have been laid, pumping stations are ready.
Currently, work is underway to improve the surrounding areas and restore access roads.

"The new water supply system was built to meet all safety and reliability requirements. The pumping stations are protected from shelling and the cable lines are laid underground. There are shelters for personnel, backup generators and modern equipment to ensure that the system operates smoothly even in emergency conditions," said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba .

Tenders for electricity supply have also been completed and all necessary agreements have been concluded to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the water supply system.
The first 5,000 cubic meters of water reached the city's systems and reservoirs in late August. Over the course of several weeks, specialists conducted a test filling of the network in stages. Pumping water allowed us to check the system's condition and avoid possible damage.

The new water supply system will provide Mykolaiv with 120,000 cubic meters of water per day. Additionally, integrated irrigation systems will provide up to 50,000 cubic meters per day to farmers in Nova Odesa and Mykolaiv district.
- In April 2022, Russian troops destroyed the water pipeline, which Mykolaiv used to get drinking water from the Dnipro. It was not restored. Mykolaiv was left without water for some time. Subsequently, salt water from the estuary was introduced into the city's networks, and then the city began to receive river water of worse quality than the Dnipro water.
- Construction of the water supply system began in January 2025. The work on the entire length of the water pipeline was carried out by the Avtostrada Group of Companies Maxim Shkil.
- The current cost of the water pipeline construction is UAH 6.3 billion, including additional works, while the initial cost was UAH 8.7 billion. According to the results of the expertise conducted by the Recovery Agency, the project was reduced by 25%.
- The saved funds will be used for other critical water projects.
