For the first time in Ukraine, a demining site was sold at two auctions: the price decreased threefold

For the first time, two auctions were held in Ukraine for the demining of one large land plot in the Kharkiv region with a total area of 605 hectares. The Ministry of Economy reports this.
The land belongs to the Yuryev Institute of Plant Production of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences and is contaminated with explosives, including anti-vehicle mines and cluster munitions.
The Humanitarian Demining Center decided to divide the area into two auctions: 389.7 hectares with a starting price of UAH 30.8 million and 215 hectares with a starting price of UAH 14.5 million.
As a result, four mine action operators came to each auction, and the final bidding price for both sites dropped almost threefold – from UAH 45.3 million to UAH 16 million.
"These are the first auctions when we are splitting one site into several auctions. This approach allows us to attract a larger number of operators, increase competition, and most importantly, accelerate the demining of large areas," said Deputy Minister of Economy Ihor Bezkaravayny.
The winners are currently being checked for compliance with the requirements. The Humanitarian Demining Center has already noted high interest in such lots and hopes for even greater activity in future auctions.
Since the beginning of 2025, 30 auctions have already been held in Ukraine for the demining of agricultural lands with a total area of 5,370 hectares. The total cost of the works amounted to UAH 336.6 million.
- In May, it became known that the organizers of land auctions had earned over UAH 1 billion since the beginning of 2025.
- In 2024, such a result of land auctions was achieved at the end of July.
