Lviv will not be able to start the heating season in the coming weeks due to a gas shortage. About this reported mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

According to him, as of October, the city has received only 8 million cubic meters of gas, while at least 18 million are needed for normal operation. Heat is currently supplied only to schools, kindergartens and hospitals that have applied for it.

"The current situation in the country is such that we will not be able to supply heating for the next few weeks. We need to wait a little bit to do everything right, so that we can have heat in the winter," Sadovyi emphasized.

He added that TPP-1 and TPP-2 are not yet able to run at full capacity due to the lack of limits.

"If there are minimum limits, the heating will be primarily used for hospitals, kindergartens, schools, and those facilities that need it," Sadovyi said.

Also, over the next few weeks, all the alternative systems that have been implemented in Lviv will be tested. In particular, starting Friday evening, some of the city's traffic lights will be disconnected from the main power supply and switched to autonomous operation.

Also, schools and hospitals with solid fuel boilers will be heated by them. Water supply systems without power supply, which are powered by generators, will also be checked.

The mayor urged residents to take care of alternative sources of heat and help those who cannot prepare on their own.

"We are returning to the time when a stove in the basement was not a superfluous thing. Do not be angry. We are sticking together," Sadovyi said.
