Sellers sharply increased prices for generators after power outages. The State Tax Service promises to respond

The State Tax Service has recorded cases of sharp price increases for backup power devices after the last blackout and called on sellers to stop it. About said acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh.
According to her, during the power outages, some wholesale suppliers and retailers artificially increased the cost of backup power devices, despite the difficult conditions Ukrainians faced.
"We have already recorded the facts of a rapid increase in prices for backup power devices – in some cases, up to 30% over the past week," Karnaukh said.
She added: "For example, one of the networks raised the price of the same charging station by more than 2 thousand within two hours. They realize that in a critical situation, people will have to overpay."
Karnaukh noted that the desire of businesses to make money is natural, but raising prices in a crisis situation is unfair behavior.
"While people have been without electricity and water for 12-18 hours, and power engineers are doing everything they can to bring light back to our homes, some people decided to make some extra money," emphasized Karnaukh.
According to Karnaukh, the State Tax Service will check the correctness of price setting and the correctness and completeness of tax payments.
"We see everything, record it, and we will respond appropriately," Karnaukh said.
