Ukroboronprom and the Norwegian defense company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace have agreed on the integration of Ukrainian developments in the field of air defense into the NASAMS system. This was reported by the Ukroboronprom press service.

"This concerns a partnership for the integration of existing and prospective domestic short- and medium-range air defense systems into the NASAMS infrastructure," the statement said.

In particular, it is planned that Ukrainian developments will work together with Norwegian control and management modules.

Earlier, KDA representatives held preliminary talks with their Ukrainian counterparts and studied their production and scientific and technical capabilities.

"Together with Norwegian arms manufacturers, we will take a new step towards creating a strong air shield that will reliably protect strategic facilities and civilian infrastructure. I am confident that cooperation with KDA will be another example of fruitful international partnership," said Oleg Gulyak, CEO of Ukroboronprom.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov spoke in January about expanding cooperation with Kongsberg, the developer and supplier of NASAMS mobile air defense systems to Ukraine. He mentioned that Ukraine is discussing the possibility of integrating domestic air defense systems into the NASAMS system, which would increase its effectiveness.

Another area of cooperation is the system for combating drones and the possibility of localizing their production in Ukraine. In February, Kongsberg President Erik Lie confirmed the company's plans to launch the production of missiles for NASAMS air defense systems in Ukraine.

In June, Kongsberg opened an office in Ukraine.
