Ukrainians import record number of electric cars in 2023
A record 37,953 electric cars were imported to Ukraine in the 12 months of 2023. This is four times more than in the pre-war year 2021, when 8,996 electric cars were imported, the Opendatabot platform reports.
In general, electric cars account for 10% of the total number of cars imported into Ukraine in 2023. For comparison, in 2021, the share of electric cars was only 1.2%.
The most imported electric cars were registered:
– Lviv Oblast — 5,133
– Kyiv — 4,913
– Odesa Oblat — 3,412.
The most popular brands of electric cars in Ukraine in 2023 were Volkswagen, Tesla, Nissan, Renault and Honda.
The most popular electric car model has been the Nissan Leaf for four years in a row. Over 5,000 such cars were imported to Ukraine last year.
The oldest electric car imported to Ukraine in 2023 was the Citroen Saxo of 2000.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 377,063 vehicles were imported into Ukraine in 2023, which is the lowest figure in the last three years.
