Volkswagen wants to build a plant in the US, as it has already lost several billion due to duties

German automaker Volkswagen is negotiating with the US government on large-scale investments in the American economy. About said cEO Oliver Blume in an interview with Reuters.
According to him, duties on imports of European cars to the United States now reach 27.5% and have already cost Volkswagen several billion euros this year.
The premium brands Audi and Porsche, which do not have their own plants in the United States, were the most affected.
Volkswagen's CEO said that the company is not satisfied with the asymmetrical conditions between Brussels and Washington, when duties on European cars are 15%, while American industrial goods are not subject to duties in Europe.
Volkswagen is considering a major investment to expand its business in the US, including a plant for the Audi brand, and has held talks on what support Washington could provide. Blume said he hoped for a quick decision.
In addition, the CEO confirmed that his dual role as CEO of Volkswagen and Porsche is not permanent. He may leave one of these positions, but it is not yet known what decision he will make.
