Ukraine's largest one dollar store chain, Aurora Multimarket, is planning to enter the Bulgarian market. This was announced by its co-founder and CEO Taras Panasenko in an interview with NV.Business.

"We want to open test stores in Bulgaria. This will be our startup. It will happen in the next six months," he said.

Since the end of 2023, the Ukrainian company has been operating in neighboring Romania, where it already has more than 60 stores, and plans to supply goods from there to Bulgarian stores.

In March, Panasenko said that, in addition to Bulgaria, Aurora was considering Moldova and Uzbekistan as potential markets for further expansion.

"It is more difficult to open stores in countries outside the European Union. They have different legislation and customs borders. That's why it's easy to supply goods from a Romanian warehouse to Bulgaria. This is not the case with countries outside the European Union," he explained the choice in favor of Bulgaria.

CORRECTED. The headline and quote from Taras Panasenko initially stated that the stores in Bulgaria would open within the next three months. In a comment to LIGA.net, he clarified that there was a mistake in the NV.Business interview and that it would actually take six months.
