Kyiv auto repair shop goes under the hammer. Will a new skyscraper appear on the site of a defense enterprise?

Not far from the main office of LIGA.net are the premises of the Kyiv Auto Repair Plant (KARZ). Last week, the State Property Fund, as part of the Small Privatization, privatized the enterprise. The asset went to the little-known company "Magistralbudtrade" for 310 million and one hryvnia.

The Kyiv Auto Repair Shop, which previously restored military equipment, is located on 9.8 hectares of land near the Shulyavska metro station. The Soviet government once built a large number of industrial enterprises here. Now they are being sold off due to their dilapidated condition.

However, the areas occupied by former industrial giants are a tasty morsel for the local construction business. In particular, KARZ went to Magistralbudtrade LLC, about which little is known for sure. Moreover, the company is headed by people who cannot even explain what this company does.

LIGA.net spoke with the auction winner and a representative of the company that took second place in the bidding to find out the fate of the 9.8-hectare plot almost in the very center of Kyiv. In addition, we collected information about the history of KARZ, data about the auction winner and another company that participated in the bidding. And most importantly, we tried to figure out what to expect from the new owners of the large land plot.
