A water main break in central Kyiv on Thursday, damaged two historic buildings, according to the Kyiv City State Administration.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Zhylianska and Symona Petliury streets. The affected buildings are the historic House of Fedir Horiachko (1880) and the Anna Borodkova Estate (1889), as reported by heritage preservationist Dmytro Perov on Facebook.

One of the buildings houses a hostel, which was unoccupied at the time of the incident, while the other is used as an administrative building.

Perov noted that a powerful jet of water damaged the archway between the buildings. Additionally, part of the supporting structures was compromised, leading to the collapse of a section of the brickwork on the second floor of both buildings.

The central office of the State Bureau of Investigation is located nearby.

"Experts are conducting an inspection and determining the extent of the damage. The restoration process will be handled in accordance with the established legal procedures," the city administration reported.
