Ukraine’s anti-graft body on Friday added a major Chinese construction company to its list of ‘international sponsors of war’ launched by Russia.

Despite Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) "not only continues operating in Russia, but also holds meetings with representatives of the Russian government to expand its presence in the Russian construction market, which means supporting and sponsoring terrorism," the National Corruption Prevention Agency of Ukraine (NAZK) explained in a statement.

CSCEC, one of the largest construction companies in the world, is the second Chinese company to be included in the list of ‘international sponsors of war’, following the microelectronics manufacturer Comnav Marine Ltd to be included in the list.

The list already contains well-known global companies such as Metro, Procter & Gamble, Auchan Holding, Bonduelle and, recently, the Austrian banking group Raiffeisen Bank International, all of which are yet to leave the Russian market.
