Deflation of the borscht ingredients: why vegetables became cheaper

The main harvest for 2025 has already been collected. What remains in the fields is some corn, which is cheaper to store this way, and late vegetables from the so-called "borscht set": cabbage, carrots, and beets.

Vegetable prices have been a pleasant surprise for consumers this year, but a disappointment for farmers. For example, at the beginning of November, wholesale prices for carrots are 8 hryvnias, and cabbage – 12. Apples, potatoes, and dairy products are also becoming cheaper.
