The first vegetarian KFC in Ukraine appeared in Kyiv

On Monday, September 29, the fast food chain KFC is opening its first restaurant in Ukraine with a fully vegetarian menu in Kyiv. This was reported by the company's press service.
The restaurant is located in the Blockbuster Mall. The menu of the new KFC is based on vegetable alternatives to meat.
The restaurant's dishes are made from mycoprotein, which is produced from a natural fungus. This ingredient is rich in protein and fiber, does not contain cholesterol, and has a lower carbon footprint than animal meat.
At the same time, the recipes use dairy products and eggs, so the restaurant is positioned as a vegetarian restaurant, not a vegan one.
The menu will include well-known formats in a new interpretation: Wedge strips, Wedge burger, Wedge twister, salad with Wedge strips and rice box with teriyaki sauce. The dishes will be served in special "green" packaging.
Along with the menu, the atmosphere of the restaurant will also change. Traditional red accents will be replaced by green shades and floral motifs, and the slogan "100% taste. 0% chicken".
"For KFC, a brand with a strong meat reputation, the vegetarian format is not just a seasonal promotion or another marketing ploy, but a willingness to experiment and change," the company's press service emphasized.
Alina Kiptyk, CEO of KFC's Tasty Food franchisee in Ukraine, noted that the new restaurant is not a rejection of the brand's roots, but a response to the global trend of growing demand for alternative protein sources.
- On September 9, it was reported that KFC will start opening restaurants in medium-sized regional cities with a population of 50,000-100,000 people, Kolomyia will be the first.
