Egypt's new wheat purchasing agency, Mostakbal Misr, has booked about half a million tons of grain from the Black Sea region for December and January deliveries. Ukraine will supply more than 130,000 tons. This was reported by sources Bloomberg.

In addition to Ukrainian wheat, the agency will buy 200,000 tons from Russia and 150,000 tons from Bulgaria. This is the second large-scale deal in recent months – in October, Egypt purchased about a million tons of grain from the Black Sea countries, France and Kazakhstan.

Egypt is the world's largest buyer of wheat, so its purchases are closely monitored as an indicator of global demand and the competitiveness of different suppliers.

USDA predicts that the North African country will import a record 13 million tons of grain this season.

According to the source, current wheat stocks in Egypt are sufficient until the end of February.

Mostakbal Misr assumed responsibility for public procurement late last year, replacing the General Directorate for Commodities Supply.
