The supertanker Kalliopi with Iraqi oil for Nayara Energy is heading to the Indian port of Vadinar, writes Bloomberg.

This will be the first supply of non-Russian oil to this refinery since the European Union imposed sanctions on it.

The Kalliopi, which falls into the category of a very large oil tanker, is transporting about 2 million barrels of Iraqi Basrah crude oil. The tanker is expected to arrive at the port late in the evening on July 28.

After Nayara Energy (49% owned by Rosneft) came under EU sanctions, many tankers avoided the terminal, and Nayara's management changed.

The Kalliopi is operated by the Greek company Dynacom Tankers.

After implementation of the 18th EU sanctions package against Russia, a tanker with Russian oil for Nayara Energy redirected to another Indian port.
