The GTS operator announced that Greece and Moldova have made important decisions that open up new opportunities for transporting natural gas to Ukraine via the Trans-Balkan route.

In particular, the Greek Energy Regulator (RAE) approved the lifting of restrictions on gas exports from the Greek Virtual Trading Point (VTP) to Ukraine.

This means that starting from the next auction, which will take place on June 23, traders will be able to book capacity on the route and use the Greek VTP to supply gas to our country.

In addition, the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova has approved changes that will allow the operator Vestmoldtransgaz to introduce a new product of gas transportation from the "Causani" connection point (entrance to Moldova) to the "Hrebeniki" transmission point (exit to Ukraine).

The new conditions provide for a simplified transit procedure, provided that certain technical requirements are met:

  • reservation of a minimum amount of natural gas of 5300 MWh/day;
  • transportation exclusively along this route, under the customs transit regime;
  • balanced nominations.

"We welcome the decisions of the national regulators of the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Moldova, which increase the commercial attractiveness of natural gas transportation via the Trans-Balkan route," said Acting General Director of the GTS Operator of Ukraine Vladislav Medvedev.
