Naftogaz imported to Ukraine almost all of the US LNG contracted at Orlen

Group Naftogaz in partnership with the Polish company Orlen, has already supplied about 400 million cubic meters of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine in preparation for the winter of 2025-2026. About said naftogaz's press service.

American gas is imported through two terminals – Świnoujście in Poland and Klaipeda in Lithuania.

In total, as of mid-September, the following equipment was contracted for delivery to Ukraine about 450 million cubic meters american LNG.

"One of the key sources of supply for us today is American liquefied natural gas. We are implementing this project in partnership with the Polish state-owned concern Orlen. This allows us not only to diversify gas supplies but also to strengthen our strategic cooperation," said the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Sergiy Koretsky.

To build up natural gas reserves in Ukraine's underground storage facilities before the heating season, Naftogaz took record loans by uAH 4.7 billion у PrivatBank and Ukrgasbank.

on August 13, Naftogaz and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed an agreement on eUR 500 million revolving credit facility. This is the first EU-guaranteed loan under the UIF Hi-Bar program that does not require a Ukrainian government guarantee.

on August 15, the Norwegian government announced the allocation of nOK 1 billion (over $98 million) for the purchase of natural gas for the next heating season. The new support is in addition to the previously allocated NOK 1 billion for gas purchases in March 2025.

  • In August, the Vice Prime Minister for Recovery, Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba said that Ukraine has accumulated 11 billion cubic meters of gas – this is 80% of the plan. According to the Minister, gas injection into Ukraine's underground storage facilities is going according to plan, sometimes even ahead of schedule.
