Reuters: Volgograd refinery halts oil refining after UAV strike

The Volgograd oil refinery of the Russian company Lukoil suspended operations on Thursday, November 6, after an attack by Ukrainian drones, Reuters reported, citing three sources in the Russian oil refining industry.

According to them, the strike damaged the primary unit AVT-5 with a capacity of 9,110 metric tons per day (20% of the plant's total capacity) and the hydrocracker with a capacity of 11,000 tons per day.

Lukoil did not comment on the situation at the enterprise.

"The plant is shut down. AVT-5 was on fire, damage to hydrocracking," said one of the agency's interlocutors.

In 2024, the Volgograd refinery processed 13.7 million tons of oil, or 5.1% of Russia's total refining volume.

The Volgograd refinery was attacked by drones for at least the third time in the last three months. Previous strikes were on August 14 and August 19.
