Russia violates 'energy truce' with strike on Kherson. Zelenskyy awaits US response

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during an artillery strike on Kherson on March 27, Russian forces violated the "energy truce" agreed upon during technical meetings in Saudi Arabia on March 23-25.
"Today, Russian artillery damaged energy infrastructure in the city of Kherson. They targeted the railway station and disrupted electricity by hitting power facilities. Kherson is a civilian city, not a battlefield. I believe the United States should respond," the Ukrainian president said during a press conference in Paris.
Zelenskyy said he ordered Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to prepare evidence of the attack and share it with the United States, which had "stated it would react to violations."
"Trust me, after three years of war, we see everything clearly: what they fire, with proof, recordings, and videos. We have all of it," he added.
- During talks in Riyadh, Ukraine and Russia, in separate negotiations with the United States, agreed to halt strikes on energy facilities and in the Black Sea. The agreement took effect upon the publication of joint statements with the United States on March 25.
- As of March 27, Russia has twice accused Ukraine of violating the deal, but the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces denied these claims. Between March 25-27, Ukraine's Defense Forces did not carry out drone strikes on Russian energy facilities in Kursk and Bryansk regions or energy infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea.
