The Russian government has extended a temporary ban on the export of motor gasoline until the end of 2025 to stabilize the situation on the domestic fuel market. This was reported by the Russian Interfax news agency.

According to the resolution, the restrictions will be in effect until December 31, 2025 and apply to all exporters, including direct producers.

Previously, producers were banned from exporting gasoline until the end of September, and non-producers until the end of October.

In another decree, the Russian government banned the export of diesel fuel, marine fuel, and other types of gas oils, including those purchased on the stock exchange. These restrictions will also remain in effect until the end of 2025.

At the same time, supplies made by direct producers of these fuels are not subject to the export ban.

Russia banned the export of gasoline at the end of July 2025 due to a 30% jump in prices to a historic high. In August, this the ban was extended.

However, the restrictions failed to help Russia avoid a fuel crisis caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on oil refineries. As of September 10, it covered more than 20 regions.

According to The Bell, 360 gas stations have closed in Russia over the past two months, and gasoline and diesel prices in the country are near historic highs.
