The Oil Industry Srbije refinery in Pančevo, the only refinery in the country, has stopped working due to a lack of raw materials. This was announced on Tuesday, citing sources reported belgrade television Nova.rs.

The President of Serbia is also expected to announce this information Aleksandar Vucic.

According to Nova.rs, the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) response to the Serbian government's request to extend NIS's license, submitted six days ago, was received only on the morning of November 25.

The request was filed so that the company could act without hindrance during negotiations on change of ownership structure. Energy Minister Dubravka Jedovic-Handanovic said that the Russian side is ready to sell its stake in NIS to a third party to defer sanctions.

on November 21, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the following companies are interested in buying NIS ADNOC company from the UAE.

Two days ago, Aleksandar Vucic said that there was no good news regarding the Oil Industry of Srbije and that he would inform the public about the results of the negotiations within the next 36-48 hours.

  • The sanctions against NIS were imposed on January 10, but they came into effect only on October 9 this year. The main requirement is that the Russians withdraw from the company. During the nine months of negotiations between the Serbian authorities and Russia, no solution was found, as all the options proposed by Serbia were rejected.
