Energy Ministry blocks sudden dismissal of Ukrenergo CEO in court

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has blocked in court the dismissal of the chairman and members of the board of Ukrenergo. This is reported in the ruling of the Kyiv Economic Court of September 29, the text of which was published by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The court granted the ministry's application for interim relief (the lawsuit itself will be filed later), prohibiting "all state registrars without exception" from carrying out registration actions based on the decision of the Supervisory Board of NPC Ukrenergo dated September 26, 2025.
The ruling has entered into force and is subject to immediate execution, regardless of its appeal.
On September 26, Ukrenergo's supervisory board unexpectedly dismissed Zaichenko and other board members due to a decision of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission, which allegedly found procedural violations during previous appointments, as well as due to the loss of confidence in him by the supervisory board in connection with "certain events of recent weeks".
Oleksiy Brekht was to become acting chairman of Ukrenergo's board.
He has already headed the company from September 2014 (when the previous Ukrenergo CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi was fired with a scandal) until June 2025.
On June 23, it became known that Ukrenergo's chief dispatcher Vitaliy Zaichenko won the competition for the position of chairman of the company's board.
His competitors were Brecht and Ivan Yuryk, who is in charge of Eurobonds at Ukrenergo and was acting chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia for several months in 2020 and 2021.
