Ukraine had the most expensive electricity in Europe for 16 days in August

In August 2025, Ukraine had the most expensive electricity in Europe among 27 countries for 16 days. Italy was the leader for 10 days, according to data from Market Operator.
The average daily value of the BASE price index on the day-ahead electricity market in Ukraine fell below EUR 100 per MWh only a few times.
For example, on August 31, the price in Ukraine was UAH 5101 per MWh (the most expensive), while in France it was only UAH 909 (the cheapest).
Interfax-Ukraine indicates that prices in Ukraine have been rising for the second month in a row. In the previous months, Ukraine was also often among the leaders in terms of price increases: in July - five times, in June - six times, in May - 11 times, in April - five times.
In 2024, Ukraine was the third most expensive country in Europe for electricity.
- On September 1, the energy regulator NKREKP increased tariffs for electricity distribution services for non-household consumers.
