Ukraine increased electricity imports by 150% in October. The largest purchases are from Hungary

Ukraine increased electricity imports by 2.5 times in October 2025 compared to September, to more than 360,000 MWh. About this testify exPro Electricity monitoring data.
Overall, electricity imports increased in October in all directions. Compared to October 2024, electricity imports to Ukraine have doubled.
Hungary still holds the largest share, 51%. Poland is in second place with a share of 22%.

At the end of October, Ukraine resumed cross-border trade with Slovakia after a nearly two-month break due to repairs on the Velke Kapušany-Mukachevo line.
Imports from Slovakia amounted to 7,600 MWh over the last three days of the month, while exports to Slovakia amounted to 1,800 MWh over the same period.
At the same time, electricity exports fell by 85% in October 2025 due to increased shelling of energy infrastructure. In total, 90,800 MWh of electricity were exported to the EU and Moldova during the month.
Deliveries decreased in all directions except Slovakia. Hungary also accounts for the largest share, 43%.
