Ukrenergo hopes to launch heating within ten days

The delay in the start of the heating season in Ukraine has led to a sharp increase in electricity consumption across the country - by more than 20% compared to the beginning of the month, Ukrenergo CEO Vitaliy Zaichenko said on Tuesday in a single telethon.
"The main thing is the lack of heat supply. Now many consumers are heating themselves with electricity - these are air conditioners and heaters," explained Zaichenko.
"We hope that in the near future, within ten days, heat supply will be provided throughout Ukraine, and this will lead to a reduction in electricity consumption," he said .
Zaichenko added that in recent years, household consumers have become the largest consumer of electricity in Ukraine, so their behavior can significantly help stabilize the situation if they do not turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time and do not turn them on during the peak period of the system.
- on October 6, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would have to increase gas imports due to Russian shelling.
- On October 10, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that the city would not be able to start the heating season in October due to a lack of sufficient gas.
- In 2024, the heating season in Kyiv started on October 30, while in 2023 it started on October 16.
