The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yōko Kamikawa, during her visit to Ukraine on Sunday announced the provision of five mobile gas turbine generators to Ukraine. According to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Halushchenko, they will increase the generation capacity of Ukraine by 200 MW.

"This is primarily about decentralized generation. The turbines will add more than 200 MW to the power system. The corresponding generation will be installed and distributed throughout Ukraine," the minister's press service quotes him as saying.

Japan also announced the provision of seven additional high-voltage autotransformers to Ukraine.

"Two have already been installed. Seven more have already been purchased, and later our Japanese partners will provide two more autotransformers to increase the reliability of electricity supply," Halushchenko said.

In addition to this equipment, the Japanese government and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have already provided 1,200 generators and 1,000 power supplies to government institutions and emergency and rescue services of Ukraine. Also, 500 generators and 6 mobile power supply vehicles arrived in Ukraine through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
