the "authorities" of the temporarily occupied Crimea have announced a complete shutdown of mobile Internet on the peninsula "for a long period of time". About this writes The Moscow Times.

According to the occupation "Ministry of Internal Policy, Information and Communications," this is necessary allegedly to "counter enemy attacks and ensure the safety of citizens."

Residents are urged to prepare in advance by withdrawing cash and downloading offline maps. There are no plans to disconnect wired internet and mobile communications.

Local operator Volna has already informed its subscribers about the upcoming blocking of mobile access to the network. For the duration of the restrictions, it promises free SMS and additional minutes for calls within Crimea, Sevastopol and Krasnodar Krai.

According to the occupation "authorities," the outage periods can last for several days. During this time, it is recommended to use city, office or home phones and Wi-Fi.

"Restrictions are necessary to exclude the possibility of an attack by Ukrainian drones," the Crimean "authorities" added.

For the first time, mobile internet was cut off in Crimea in December 2024, but it was short-lived. In the spring of 2025, similar restrictions were extended to other regions of the Russian Federation.
