Akhmetov’s Lemtrans expands into container logistics with third terminal – photo

The first stage of construction of a new container terminal, a joint project of logistics companies Lemtrans and Rail Trans Investment, has been completed in Fastiv, near Kyiv. The news was reported by Lemtrans’ press service, part of Rinat Akhmetov’s SCM Group.
The project involved $7 million in investments.
The terminal was built in less than a year despite the ongoing full-scale war. It is Lemtrans’ third facility of this type, following the launch of terminals in Mostyska (2022) and Vinnytsia (2024).
The new terminal spans more than 13 hectares and currently has an annual capacity of 19,000 TEU (one TEU equals a 20-foot container), which is expected to increase to 55,000 TEU in the future.
Its infrastructure includes two new railway tracks and a container yard capable of storing up to 1,350 containers. The terminal is designed to handle standard full-length freight trains.

Thanks to its strategic location, Fastiv can serve as a hub for regular container services to Ukrainian ports, particularly Odesa, as well as European ports in Gdansk, Hamburg, Trieste and beyond.
- In January 2021, Lemtrans, which had previously specialized in transporting coal and iron ore in open wagons, acquired the multimodal container operator Levada Cargo. In the summer of 2022, Levada Cargo, together with Rail Trans Investment, launched the Mostyska container terminal near the Polish border. In September 2024, Lemtrans’ container terminal in Vinnytsia began receiving its first containers.
