One of the world's largest container companies returns to Ukraine
The French company CMA CGM, one of the world's three largest operators of maritime container transportation, is returning to Ukraine, the specialized publication Splash 24/7 reported.
CMA CGM is launching a new route, Odessa Express, between the ports of Piraeus (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey) and Odessa at the end of January. The company will become the second major operator to return to Ukraine with its own ships, after MSC .
Two vessels will operate on the route each week: Lila Canada (1,118 TEU) and TJ Orhan (1,550 TEU).
This will be the first direct connection between Greece and Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, according to Alphaliner, a company specializing in analyzing the container shipping market.
Another carrier, the Turkish company Medkon Lines, is also planning to resume its connection with Ukraine in mid-January. It is a small company from the late 1990s , but it will be the first Turkish liner operator to return to the Ukrainian market.
