A Spirit Airlines passenger jet in the skies over New York City was too close to Air Force One, which US President Donald Trump was on his way to London. About writes Bloomberg.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 16, when a Spirit 1300 flight (Airbus A321 from Fort Lauderdale to Boston) crossed paths with a presidential Boeing 747 over Long Island.

The air traffic controller noticed that the planes were at a similar altitude and moving toward each other, and he tried several times to warn the Spirit pilots to change course.

Although the planes remained at a safe distance of several miles from each other, the situation attracted attention on social media. A recording of the radio exchange between the controller and the pilots is being actively shared on Twitter and Bluesky.

The agency writes that the audio shows the dispatcher giving sharp orders: "Spirit 1300, turn right 20 degrees. Do it now!" Later, the crew followed the command.

After that, the dispatcher added a hint of a famous airplane: "The traffic is to the left of your left wing at a distance of six or eight miles. 747. I'm sure you can see who it is."

And in the end, the controller could not resist a harsh remark to the Spirit pilots: "Be careful! Put the iPad down!"
