Russia releases Estonian oil tanker Green Admire detained in its waters

Russian authorities have released the Estonian oil tanker Green Admire, which was detained in Russian territorial waters on May 18 after leaving the port of Sillamäe with a cargo of shale oil, Estonian broadcaster ERR reported.
It is noted that by the evening of Monday, May 19, the ship left Russian territorial waters and headed for Rotterdam.
The Liberian-flagged oil tanker Green Admire left the port of Sillamäe on May 18 and followed an agreed route through Russian territorial waters, where it was detained.
This was the first such incident. According to the Estonian Department of Transport, in the future, ships visiting Sillamäe will be guided exclusively through Estonian territorial waters.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsachkna said Russia's actions were prompted by pressure on its shadow fleet in the Baltic Sea.
The Estonian Navy previously reported that the tanker's detention could have been due to the fact that the vessel, while in Russian territorial waters, did not respond to repeated warnings when entering a zone that the Russian Federation has designated as dangerous for shipping.
- On April 11, Estonia detained a tanker from Russia's shadow fleet. It was heading to Ust-Luga without a flag.
- In May, the Estonian Navy attempted to stop the tanker Jaguar, which belongs to the Russian shadow fleet. The vessel did not stop, and Russia sent a fighter jet to escort it, which violated Estonian airspace.
