Turkish Airlines orders 225 Boeing planes after Trump meets with Erdogan

Turkish Airlines has announced the order of 75 Boeing B787 aircraft and the completion of negotiations for the purchase of 150 737-8/10 MAX aircraft. About writes Reuters.

The delivery of 75 Boeing B787s is scheduled for the period from 2029 to 2034.

At the same time, according to the airline, orders for 737-8/10 MAX aircraft will be placed subject to the successful completion of negotiations with engine manufacturer CFM International.

"With these orders, our entire fleet should consist of new generation aircraft by 2035, which will strengthen operational efficiency and support an average annual growth rate of about 6%," the airline added.

This announcement comes after Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, September 25, met with the President of the United States Donald Trump.

During the meeting, Trump said that, in his opinion, Turkey agree to his request to stop buying Russian oil in exchange for the lifting of US sanctions against Ankara so that it could buy US F-35 fighters.
