Ukraine and Norway extended "transport visa-free travel" until the end of 2025

Ukraine and Norway have agreed to extend the "transport visa-free regime" for another six months – until December 31, 2025. This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine.
Thus, Ukrainian carriers can continue to carry out freight transportation and transit to Norway without special permits if the truck meets the Euro-5 standard or higher.
The agreement was reached on June 5 after a meeting of the Mixed Commission between the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine and the Ministry of Transport of Norway.
Visa-free conditions apply to trucks with an environmental standard not lower than Euro 5. The possibility of automatic extension of the agreement after 2025 is also provided.
"The consistent policy of the Ministry of Development is the liberalization of freight transportation between Ukraine and other countries. We are working to create more opportunities for both our carriers and the economy as a whole," said Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction Oleksiy Kuleba.
Ukraine and Norway first introduced a "transport visa-free regime" in August 2023. The decision to extend it was the result of negotiations that took place in May at the International Transport Forum in Leipzig.
As of today, Ukraine has agreements on liberalized freight transportation with 35 countries, including EU member states.
- "Visa-free trade" with the European Union officially ended on June 6. Quotas were returned for Ukraine.
- According to the National Bank, Ukrainian exporters will lose $800 million due to the return of pre-war trade conditions with the EU.
