Ukrenergo CEO and Dragon Capital launch a new $30 million energy project
Former Ukrenergo CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, together with entrepreneur Andriy Nemyrovskyi and Tomas Fiala's investment company Dragon Capital are launching a new energy project in Ukraine. Volodymyr Kudrytskyi told about this in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
According to Kudrytskyi, the project aims to build a diversified portfolio of energy capacities for the Ukrainian energy system: energy storage systems, gas generation, and renewable energy.
He noted that the restoration and transformation of the Ukrainian energy system will require gigawatts of new generation. In his opinion, this need will grow until 2030, and this chance should be seized now.
"It was very important for us to create something significant for the Ukrainian energy system," emphasized Kudrytskyi .
Investments in the project amount to $30 million. The financing is provided by Dragon Capital, and Kudrytsky and Nemyrovsky, who run the development company Nejen, act as operating partners.
It is noted that the ownership structure will change as new capital is raised.
In the first phase, it is planned to build 60 MW of capacity – gas-piston power plants and energy storage systems.
A total of 150 MW of capacity is planned to be built in 2025-2026.
- According to the Cabinet of Ministers, in 2025, Ukraine plans to commission about 1 GW of new generation. In 2024, Ukraine commissioned 967 MW of distributed generation.
- On May 6, it became known that JSC Ukrzaliznytsia announced an international tender for the purchase of gas-piston power plants with a total capacity of 215 MW.
