Over 26,000 new companies were registered in Ukraine in 2024, a 2.7% decrease compared to the previous year (26,700), according to a study by YC.Market.

In absolute terms, the highest number of new businesses was registered in Kyiv (9,200), followed by Dnipropetrovsk (2,200) and Lviv (2,100) oblasts.

Engineering was the fastest-growing sector in 2024, with a 34% increase in new companies—1,022 in 2024 compared to 670 in 2023. Despite the mass closure of IT sole proprietorships, the number of new tech companies in Ukraine grew by 6.6% to 1,714. The study also highlights positive trends in telecommunications, power generation, electronics, and equipment manufacturing.

A decline in new company registrations was recorded in wholesale trade, transportation, and logistics.

In total, nearly 3,300 companies ceased operations in Ukraine in 2024. The highest number of closures occurred in Kyiv (528), followed by Dnipropetrovsk (395), Odesa (282), Lviv (239), and Kharkiv (201) oblasts. The liquidation rate increased the most in Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Poltava oblasts.
