Ukraine to build another ammunition plant

Private company Ukrainian Armor plans to build a new artillery ammunition production plant in Ukraine, as was announced by the company's director Vladyslav Belbas in an interview with Militarnyi.

"We are planning to open another plant in the country, which will allow us to significantly increase our supply volumes," Belbas said.

He declined to specify the type of ammunition that will be produced at the new plant. However, Belbas noted that they do not plan to manufacture 152 mm Soviet-style shells.

Currently, the company produces hundreds of thousands of shells annually, manufacturing the full range of mortar shells from 60 to 120 mm, as well as 122 mm artillery shells.

The company's head noted that the share of Ukrainian components has significantly increased over the past year, with casings and fuses now produced in Ukraine. Essentially, the only imported components remaining are gunpowder and explosives.

In addition to shells, Ukrainian Armor also produces 60 mm, 82 mm, and 120 mm mortars supplied to the Defense Forces.

According to Belbas, the company's mortar production capacity is 100% booked until the end of 2024. For the following year, production is already contracted at 50-70%. However, he noted that these percentages are very conditional and do not reflect the actual production potential.
