Estonia has allocated €150,000 to support Ukraine’s energy system, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced at a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in Kyiv.

He emphasized that Russia continues to launch brutal attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, terrorizing the civilian population. Tsahkna noted that Estonia has already provided around €700,000 in assistance to Ukraine’s energy sector.

"And now we are allocating an additional €150,000 to support Ukraine’s energy system and the Energy Support Fund," the diplomat said.

  • Ukraine is discussing with partners additional assistance for gas purchases. Bloomberg sources estimate that Ukraine needs to import an additional 4.4 bcm by the end of winter. This could cost about 2 billion euros.

  • The financial need of Ukrainian energy companies for equipment for repairs exceeds the budget of the Energy Support Fund by about 500 million euros.
